Eight Months Old and On the Move

Miranda has turned eight months old and is now quite the little crawler (as you can see in the video). However, she still would rather be standing in order to try to walk (see you can see in the pictures). She even took a few steps holding on to Tilda's baby doll stroller the other day!

Annual Roadtrip

This past weekend we made our annual trip up to Michigan. The girls traveled surprising well up to our little cabin where we had lots of fun. Despite the ice cold lake water, the girls loved the beach. Tilda suffered a few injuries our first night (a fat lip and almost broken nose) due to the "tailgate toss" game, which was quickly put off limits for the rest of the trip. Miranda wasn't too sure about her first ice cream cone, and Tilda only wanted the chocolate in her first s'more. Miranda thoroughly enjoyed her first visit to Michigan Stadium and Matilda loved finding all the M's for her name there. The drive home did not go quite as smoothly, but it definitely could have been worse. I'm just thankful that I was smart enough to take tomorrow off to recover!

Catching Up with Tilda

Tilda continues to make us laugh almost every day (and cry almost every other day). She always has something funny to say or mispronounce. Of course, she not always a happy camper and continues to test her boundaries when she can. I officially declared her potty trained when she wanted out of the pool to use the potty. I figured if she didn't use the pool as a potty, she must be potty trained. Matilda has entered into the questioning phase. I was hoping that somehow we would be the only parents to not have a child who asked a billion questions a day, but alas we were not so lucky. Matilda is very happy that summer is finally here as she loves swimming, climbing trees, and just being outside.

Leaps & Bounds

The past few months have been quite exciting for Miranda. She had her 6 month well check in May (15lbs 10oz - 41st %ile, 25.5 inches - 40th %ile and 3 more shots). Thankfully, she handled the shots much better this time around. She has started eating "solid" foods and is already a picky eater like her mother. When she got her first ear infection, we discovered she really does not like antibiotics as she would start to blow raspberries to keep the medicine out the moment she saw the dispenser. She sits and crawls like a pro, but would much rather try to walk! She's already pulling herself up and is about ready to start "cruising" along the furniture or anything else she can pull herself up on. She is also learning about all the fun things there are to do in the summer, like playing in the sprinkler & the pool. Miranda is a very determined girl & when she's playing with you, she will take your hand and guide it to whatever she wants you to do (push a button, pick up a ball, etc). And she's still not much of sleeper as I don't think she has slept through a complete night yet, but if that's the worse thing she's up to, I'll take it!

Balance

As any parent with young children will tell you, life is about balance. And based upon my lack of posting lately, it is clear that our lives have been a bit out of balance lately. Hopefully now that Matt has finished with his summer classes (except for one pesky final this Wednesday) we can hopefully get things back into some kind of balance (let's keep our fingers crossed!).
