Star of Happiness

Mattie's favorite toy is her "star of happiness" (named by her Uncle Jeffy). She loves the crinkle sound the star makes. The toy is basically a lifesaver because it usually calms her down and keeps her occupied so mom and dad can get things done around the house (thank you Melissa!).

On Monday, the three of us attended our last childbirth class. It was a lot of fun because we got to share our childbirth experience with expectant parents. Of course we didn't give them ALL the details of Mattie's birth, there's just some things you have to find out for yourself (plus we didn't want to scare them too much). It's strange to think that just a few months ago Matt and I were the ones asking the questions and attending class.

It looks like I'm going to have to find my own star of happiness as I start back to work tomorrow. While I'm not looking forward to it at all, I'm finding some comfort in the fact that she's going to be taken care of by loving family members who will no doubt spoil her!

Like Father, Like Daughter

Here's Mattie trying out daddy's Xbox 360 while he was upstairs painting the living room. Watch out SeaDog, she's coming after you!

Two Months Stats

Matilda weighed in at 10 lbs (25th percentile) and measured 23.5 inches long (80th percentile). She also received four (yes 4!) shots. Thankfully she wasn't too crabby after the shots, she just wanted to be held by her mom and dad the rest of the day. As another insightful mom told me, it's a great feeling to know that your baby only wants you to make her feel better (until you want to eat and she keeps crying because you're not holding her anymore).

We all enjoyed the warmer weather this past week or so. Matt, Matilda, Piddles (who we were puppy sitting) and I all went for walks around the neighborhood. We've come to find out that Mattie really doesn't care for pacifiers. She would much rather try to shove her fists in her mouth. The plus side to this is that her fists are always with us and never fall on the floor when she spits them out!

Another Month Older

As repetitive and cliche as it sounds, I can't believe Matilda's 2 months old already! She's able to hold her head up most of the time, sleeps through the night (well, she sleeps for about 5 hours and it's not every night) and is starting to get too long for some of her sleepers! We'll get her official 2 months stats (along with some shots) this Friday at her doctor's appointment. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with some of the "mommy skills" I've developed in the past 2 months, such as being able to make a pot of coffee with only one free hand!
