Bunnies Galore!

Matilda's first Easter was a lot of fun. She looked so cute in her little dress, if only she wasn't so darn slippery in it! Earlier in the week we tried Mommy & Baby yoga. Apparently Mattie wasn't feeling very zen that day because she cried during most of it. We'll try again later.

Matilda has started cooing a lot more often. Matt and I are really enjoying all the smiles and "talks" with her! I think she's close to discovering her hand already. I'll catch her here and there staring at it (at least I think that's what she's looking at), but she definitely doesn't know that her hand belongs to her. And apparently Mattie has not read the baby books that say around this age she should start sleeping through the night. Instead, she's started getting up every two hours or so again. Maybe it's a growth spurt.

Sheep, Shades and Shots

On Monday we all went to Mattie's one month check-up. All was good until it was time for her shot. I'm not sure who was more upset, Mattie, Matt or me. I always thought it was strange when parents talked about being upset when their child got a shot. I always figured that if you knew it was good for them it shouldn't be very upsetting. Well, now I know that there's nothing you can tell yourself to make you feel better when your child is crying at the top of her lungs in shock and pain. Now no one is looking forward to the next appointment when Matilda has to get more shots.

Matilda is much more alert now. She loves looking at her sheep when she's getting changed. She's also started smiling when she sees or hears Matt & me. Talk about making your heart melt! Mattie's also enjoying "tummy time" and learning to use a pacifier and a bottle.

One Month Old

It's hard to believe Matilda turned one month old on Thursday! Everyone always tells you that time goes by fast, and with the exception of the night feedings every 2 hours, they're right.

Mattie had a very eventful week. She went for her first walk around the block (during which she cried the final quarter way home), to the mall, to Olive Garden and to vote (she's such a model citizen!). She's also experiencing her first taste of wonderful Cleveland winter weather, which poor Kane has to go out in. Mattie also survived her first stuffy nose being cleaned out by mom & dad. Poor girl, it looks like she may have Matt's sinuses. Matt & I have found that when she has her fussy time, she can be calmed down a little bit by placing her on Daddy's leg. It doesn't work all the time, so thankfully fussy time doesn't last too long.
