The Nursery

All we need is baby and for poor kitty to find a new place to sleep since we'll be needing the glider soon!

Almost There!

It was a busy week for us as we finished as much as possible before baby gets here. On Monday we had a second ultrasound (the picture below is me in the waiting room after 2 hours of waiting). Once again baby was not cooperative and would not move their hand from by their face. Other than that everything looked good. It's so exciting thinking the next time we see baby it will be in person!
Our weekly doctor's appointment went fine. Nothing exciting going on, so I guess baby isn't coming anytime soon. We also met with baby's pediatrician, had our car seats installed by a certified firefighter and finished up the nursery this week. I think we are as ready as possible for baby to come!

The Balloon Theory

Here's Matt's theory on the gender of Baby Smith: for my work baby shower (which we had before Christmas) I received a bunch of pink and blue helium balloons. To this day (well maybe up to yesterday) there has been one blue balloon that is still floating. Therefore, we are having a boy. I guess not too much longer before we find out if Matt's theory is right!

Our now weekly doctor's appointment went fine. She confirmed that baby's head is facing down, baby's back is on my left side and the limbs are on my right side. I could have told her that the limbs are on the right based upon the daily beating that side takes from baby. I'm amazed that I haven't suffered internal injuries from baby's kicks! The doctor thinks that baby should arrive close to his/her due date. Maybe baby will be perfect like me and arrive on their due date.

And thank heavens for Matt!!! He's been wonderful this whole pregnancy, but was extra wonderful this past week. It was rough for me because I had to work late most nights and I'm becoming more uncomfortable every day, thankfully Matt worked extra hard at making things as easy as possible for me. Baby and I are so lucky!

You Don't Look Big

For some odd reason I heard these words a lot this past week. Personally, I think I look big and I definitely feel big. Tying shoes and picking things up off the floor have now become time consuming projects that I avoid at all costs. My tennis shoes are now my preferred shoes. And I'm usually trying to keep baby out from under my ribs.

All went well at this week's doctor's appointment. It's hard to believe that from this point on if labor begins, it won't be stopped! Matt is well aware of this and that's why I feel soooo bad about waking him up in the middle of the night on Friday with me screaming and jumping out of bed due to a horrible leg cramp. He was very understanding, but did insist that I pack my hospital bag over the weekend.

So Far So Good

We are less than 24 hours into the new year and so far things are going good. Matt & I both managed to stay awake to watch the ball drop and found out that sparkling grape juice actually tastes better than most champagnes. We were pleasantly surprised by Michigan's win over Florida in the bowl game. If only the snow would stop, then things would be great.

At the end of last week, we had our 2 week doctor's appointment. Once again nothing too exciting. However, I was surprised to hear my doctor say "Girl you're getting big" when measuring the size of my belly. Not quite sure what to make of that statement since she followed it up with a everything looks good.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. Goodness knows it's going to be an exciting one for us!
